When you wear a smoky eye, I always recommend starting with eye makeup and finishing with complexion. That way you can apply and blend shadows as exuberantly as you’d like without worrying about making a mess. For extra credit, you can apply a gel or cream face mask while you work on your eyes, then remove it before you apply face makeup. Your skin will be perfectly plump and glowy. Maya Chia The Refresh Mint or Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask are great options for this. Follow with your favorite moisturizer.
Vapour’s new Eyeshadow Quads have an ultra-silky feel and incredible color payoff. Using Labyrinth, I applied Dragonfly (a rich, gold-flecked khaki-taupe) to Ryanne’s outer and inner eyelid, leaving a gap in the center above the pupil, and also buffed it into the lower lashline. With my fingertip, I tapped Meteorite (a gleaming dove-gray shade) onto the center of the eyelid. This technique creates a halo effect, catching the light and opening up the eyes. I dipped a crease brush into Incense (a deep, warm brown) and sculpted the crease, the outer third of the lid, and the outer lash line—top and bottom. Finally, I popped a little Moonstone (a cool, matte, neutral tone) on the inner corners to brighten.
The Soft Focus Foundation comes in 19 luminous shades, and gives skin an instant radiance. 155S was the perfect match for Ryanne. I blended just a few drops from the T-zone outwards. The formula melted seamlessly into her skin giving it a flawless finish. I added just a touch of the translucent pressed Perfecting Powder through the center of the face to nix excess shine without disturbing the natural, glowy look.
CHEEKS & LIPS
To add a natural flush to the cheeks, I swiped on Aura Multi Stick in Vibe, a juicy berry. To complement the dramatic eye, I chose Velvet Gloss in Deva, a muted rose shade. The Velvet Gloss formula is lush and hydrating with a soft, lasting sheen.
Hair stylist Michelle Schindler for Innersense Organic Beauty prepped Ryanne’s hair with Harmonic Healing Oil to add some moisture and shine to her curls. “I emulsified one pump of oil through my hands and fingers, and massaged it into her scalp in a circular motion until the product was absorbed,” she shares. “Then, I used Inner Peace Whipped Texturizer to add some definition to her hair and eliminate frizz.”
